Crystalline Fructose - the new High Fructose Corn Syrup?

News flash : CRYSTALLINE FRUCTOSE comes from corn syrup. whaaaaaa? Isn't crystalline fructose just a healthier sugar in our new favorite soda alternative - Vitamin Water?

Well as word gets out about the dangers of corn syrup and how it has become the evil of all that is sweet- it seems manufacturers need a replacement, one they can use before people get wise again. Here is the description of crystalline fructose from the sugar producers themselves:
"crystalline fructose is produced by allowing the fructose to crystallize from a fructose-enriched corn syrup.”

Um. Hello. That sure does sound familiar. Fructose enriched corn syrup - doesn't that sound a lot like high fructose corn syrup. Since I always encourage people to do their own research --here is an intelligent person speaking on the differences between HFCS and Crystalline Fructose. Now you be the judge.

I'm thinking -- Vitamin Water isn't looking so vitamin-y anymore.

Trying to stay healthy has never been more complicated. It used to be so easy: eat right, exercise and drink plenty of water. What happened?

Pamela Rose : Those are still the same rules as now! It's just companies have made things a lot harder when it comes to figuring out what "eating right" looks like. Thanks for the comment.

Jill, thank you so much for this blog entry! I have seen crystalline fructose start to slowly make its way onto ingredient lists recently. Thanks for the info and the truth. I wish manufacturers would get over the corn!! And disguising one thing as another. Ew. I don't know how they get away with it.
